Volunteer Opportunities
TAP remains committed to our mission of serving low- and moderate-income families and continually strives for greater reach and impact within the St. Louis community. To sustain our momentum and success, we warmly welcome and greatly value additional volunteers. Each volunteer plays a crucial role in making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
Please see below to sign up and learn how you can help — no prior tax experience required! We offer both administrative and tax preparation volunteer opportunities!
Greeter
Greeters welcome clients and make sure clients are ready for the interview. Greeters are friendly, effective communicators. NO TAX EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Assembler
Assemblers print and organize tax returns, creating the final package to be returned to the client. Assemblers are detail oriented and organized. NO TAX EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Interviewer*
Interviewers conduct client interviews and navigate the client’s paperwork to get the information to prepare tax returns. Interviewers are friendly, effective communicators and have basic tax knowledge (training provided)
Preparer*
Preparers prepare tax returns using the provided software. Preparers must be comfortable working on a computer. Basic tax knowledge is required (training provided).
Reviewer*
Reviewers validate the accuracy of prepared tax returns. Reviewers must have prior tax preparation experience as a TAP volunteer (training provided).
*Annual Tax Law Certification Training is REQUIRED for Interviewers, Preparers and Reviewers.

Training for NEW volunteers will be held on Saturday, January 13th and Saturday, January 20th. NEW volunteers should plan to attend both of these training sessions.
A self-directed online training option is available for RETURNING volunteers.
